At 19:03 alert tones were activated for a reported structure fire at K Specials, a local sporting goods store in Paintertown VFD's first due district. Truck, Engine and Rescue 87 responded with over 16 firefighters to assist. Police arrived on scene quickly and reported a working fire with possible entrapment. North Irwin's engine 12 along with Paintertown's quint 7 and truck 87 arrived on scene at approximately the same time and went to work. Crews from 87 truck and quint 7 opened up the roof while others from 87, 7, 12 and 63 (Claridge VFD) began the initial interior attack and primary search. Level Green's rescue 9 established a water supply into truck 87 and quint 7. Irwin and Circleville VFD were on RIT assignment. Grapeville VFD assisted with their foam unit. There was no entrapment of any occupants in the building.
The bulk of the fire was knocked down in approximately 20 minutes with extensive overhaul lasting several hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
